Visionary Science for a Better World

We create unconventional breakthrough solutions with wave-based technologies.

What We Do

Our Work

Active Wave Engineering (AWE) Technologies LLC focuses on non-invasively identifying & characterizing fluids + materials as well as manipulating objects by specially adapting wave energies that intersect the spectrum from acoustics to electromagnetics for solving challenging technical problems.

Non-invasive Sensing and Characterization of Fluids

We developed the Acoustic Resonance Spectroscopy (ARS) and the Swept Frequency Acoustic Interferometry (SFAI) techniques to noninvasively identify chemicals accurately and in a matter of seconds. The SFAI technique allowed determination of multiple physical properties of any fluid from a single measurement with very high accuracy.

Acoustic Manipulation

We use the force of sound to manipulate objects. This allows us to concentrate particles, separate materials (e.g., oil-water, blood-plasma, pollutants etc.), and also create unique 3D structures in a matter of seconds. We call this acoustically engineered materials (AEM) that can use almost any material with very few limitations.

Acoustic Imaging with Unique Laser-like Beam

We have developed a unique and powerful imaging technique using low-frequency that is highly collimated. This allows deep penetration into highly attenuating media, such as rocks, concrete and mud. This noninvasive technique can be utilized from imaging the human body and the human brain to drilling applications for near bore hole analysis.

Dipen N. Sinha, Ph.D. (CTO of AWE Technologies LLC) retired from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) after 38 years of service. He is a distinguished Laboratory Fellow for life, and Guest Scientist continuing to collaborate with his previous team and other renowned scientists at the Laboratory. Many of the technologies that originated from Dr. Sinha’s work at LANL is now being repurposed and refined for new solutions in biomedical and industrial applications.

AWE Technologies LLC is part of Stony Brook University’s Long Island High Technology Incubator (LIHTI) program and utilizes the extensive resources on campus to help accelerate business initiatives.
